Day Trips from Halong

This large island blends national park hiking, small-town life in Cat Ba Town, and access to Lan Ha Bay, which stays quieter than Halong Bay. The ferry crossing delivers excellent views. Vietnam's major port city carries a different energy. Wide French-colonial avenues stretch past a large opera house and a busy commercial center. The food scene excels, with seafood leading the way. It is not a typical tourist destination. That is precisely its appeal for a day of urban exploration and local immersion away from the resorts.
