Special Situations
Additional requirements for specific circumstances.
Children must have their own passport. If traveling with one parent or without parents, may need notarized consent letter from absent parent(s). Birth certificate may be requested to prove relationship. Unaccompanied minors may face additional scrutiny.
Pets require import permit from Vietnam's Department of Animal Health. Need valid rabies vaccination (within last year but at least 30 days before travel), health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, and microchip. Certain breeds restricted. Quarantine may apply if requirements not met.
Tourist visas generally not extendable beyond initial validity. For longer stays, apply for different visa category before arrival (business, investment, etc.) or exit and re-enter Vietnam. Overstaying results in fines (approximately $25-50 USD per day) and potential ban from re-entry.
