The handful of places that label themselves as clubs are just hotel lounges that turn the music up after 10 p.m. Live music is limited to weekend acoustic sets or the occasional wedding band. If you're set on dancing, you'll need to hop on a two-hour bus to Haiphong where the warehouse-style clubs stay open until 3 a.m.

Seafood dominates the after-dark menu. Grilled squid, butter-fried clams, and hot pots keep the sidewalk tables busy until around 1 a.m., later on weekends.
Best Neighborhoods
Where the nightlife concentrates.
This stretch of Vuon Dao and Ha Long Streets is where most tourists end up, lined with open-fronted beer bars and a night market that sets up after sunset. The crowd is a mix of day-trippers extending their evening and local fishermen winding down with a cold Tiger.
A block back from the water, rows of charcoal grills stay busy until the last squid skewer sells. It feels more local here, fewer neon signs, more Vietnamese chatter, and prices drop by half compared to the harbour strip.
Across the bridge, the eastern bank has a string of low-key karaoke lounges and rice-wine houses facing the coal docks. It's grittier, the music is louder, and you'll definitely be the only foreign face. But the welcome tends to be warmer for it.
